New updates for NICE Computers within CERN

The way we send you alerts about Windows Updates has changed.

Until further notice you will receive them both via the CERN Alerter and the CERN Notifications Service. However, due to technical issues this month you will receive them only via the CERN Alerter.

We strongly encourage you to configure your notification preferences at https://cern.ch/notifications as the CERN Alerter service will be decommissioned in the months to come.

Dear colleague,

Important updates will be applied to all NICE workstations today (Tuesday, 17th of May 2022).

A reboot is required 6 hours after the installation. The update will be forced on Thursday, 19th of May 2022 at 17h30.

Please note Windows 11 monthly security updates are automatically handled by your system and therefore will not be proposed to your machine by CMF.

Please also note that your machines running Windows 10 will not be able to receive these regular updates if they are outside the CERN site. For those machines, please follow the procedure explained in KB0006582 to receive updates automatically from Microsoft and keep your devices secure:

Additionally, the procedure described in KB0006602 may help you with backing up your data to CERNBox:

Un redémarrage est requis 6 heures après l'installation qui sera forcée le jeudi 19 mai 2022 à 17h30.

Veuillez noter que les mises-à-jour de sécurité Microsoft pour Windows 11 sont directement gérées par le système lui-même, et ne vous seront donc pas proposées par CMF.
